As a Chicago-based Finnish-American, it is my pleasure and honor to have begun my
second term as President, for the Finnish-American Chamber of Commerce, Midwest
(FACC-Midwest) in March 2011. As a member of the FACC-Midwest since 2006, Vice
President since 2007, and now President since 2010, I am very enthusiastic about
continuing to help build the legacy, success, and traditions of the FACC-Midwest in
2011.
In the past year we have continued to strengthen the FACC-Midwest Board and
member-base. The FACC-Midwest added new Board Members including Mari Emaus
from Nokia-Siemens. In March 2011, the FACC-Midwest appointed two new Officers in
long-time Board Members Henna Koivisto (elected Vice President) and Anna Koivisto
(elected Secretary). We are also very fortune to retain Steve Koivula as Treasurer, a
position Steve has held for over 10 years. Henna, Anna and Steve all have significant
experience in Finnish-American dealings in the United States and in Finland.
Chartered in 1960, The Finnish-American Chamber of Commerce, Midwest celebrated
its 50th birthday in 2010. As a Chamber, we celebrated this milestone in November
2010 with Maria Pappas, Cook County Treasurer at her offices in Chicago, and at our
Annual FACC-Midwest Independence Party in December 2010 with Guest of Honor,
Marja Kuosmanen, Minister Council, Finland U.S. Trade and Economic Affairs.
The FACC, Midwest, headquartered in Chicago, promotes business and commercial
relations between Finland and the United States across a seven state region. Our
dedicated member base consists of individuals, small and independent businesses,
multi-national corporations, and everything in-between. We partner with many
Finland-centric groups across the United States and Finland. Our primary purpose is to
promote business, economic and social relationships.
